§ 46-5. Discharging firearms.

  • No person shall fire a gun, pistol or any type of firearm within 300 yards of any house or public street without receiving a permit from the chief of police. No such permit shall be granted for a period of more than six months; and in deciding whether or not to grant such permit, the chief of police shall consider the following criteria:

    (1)

    The purpose for the application.

    (2)

    The distance of the area requested from house and public roads.

    (3)

    The length of time requested.

    (4)

    The reputation of the applicant, particularly concerning his use of firearms.

    (5)

    The number of persons who will be participating.

    (6)

    All other factors relevant to the protection of or promotion of the public health, safety and general welfare.
