§ 50-66. Hours of operation.

  • (a)

    Any public park in the city administered by the city, any public recreation commission or any similar governing authority, and all facilities on the premises, with the exception of lighted tennis courts and the parking lot adjacent to such tennis courts, shall be closed each day at 7:00 p.m. until local sunrise, commencing September 1 each year and continuing through March 31 of the following year, and from 9:00 p.m. until local sunrise, commencing on April 1 through August 31 each year; however, the mayor and council may issue permits upon application granting the use of the facilities to individuals or groups, and issuing permits for such usage beyond the hours herein stated in this section.

    (b)

    The hours of operation of the tennis courts, the swimming pool and bathhouse and restroom facilities located in any such park shall be open as regulated by the mayor and city council or at the direction of the mayor and city council by the recreation department.

    (c)

    The use of any public park in the city or any of its facilities after the hours of closing and before local sunrise without permission of the mayor and city council, or the presence of anyone in the park after the hours of closing and before local sunrise, without such permission, shall constitute a misdemeanor; and upon conviction, anyone violating this section shall be punished as provided in section 1-12.
